Q: What vaccines are recommended for my puppy/kitten?
A: The canine booster (distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza virus and coronavirus)
to be given at 8, 12, and 16 weeks
- Bordetella vaccine (Kennel cough) at 12, and 16 weeks
- Rabies vaccine at 16 weeks
- Then annually thereafter
The feline booster consists of Feline distemper, rhinovirus, calicivirus, leukemia
- Given at 8 and 12 weeks
- Rabies at 16 weeks
- Then annually thereafter
Q: When should I spay or neuter?
A: Puppies /kittens can be spayed or neutered at 4 months (kittens can also be declawed at this time)
Q: What is your recommendation on heartworm preventative?
A: We recommend once monthly dose of heartgard throughout the year, and heartworm testing every two years.
Q: Why do I need pre-anesthetic bloodwork before an anesthetic procedure?
A: Bloodwork can detect potential internal problems that can affect the procedure to be
performed and the future health of your pet.
Q: Do you perform ear crops or tail docking?
A: No, we do not, the American Veterinary Medical Association does not recommend
these procedures as they are only cosmetic with NO medical benefit.
Q: What do I do for emergencies?
A: Call us immediately to come in during business hours, if after hours then call the Animal Emergency Center in Sunset, 801-776-8118.
